A REMATCH between Takalani "The Panther" Ndlovu and Jeffrey "The Mongoose" Mathebula is on the cards.

This was revealed by Branco Sports Productions chief Branco Milenkovic.

The Gauteng-based promoter said he was planning to pit International Boxing Federation junior-featherweight champion Ndlovu against Mathebula.

Milenkovic said his desire to match the two fighters has been informed by what happened when they clashed in an IBF title elimination bout at Carnival City in Brakpan in September last year.

Many boxing fans booed when the score cards, which confirmed Ndlovu as the winner, were read.

There was a general belief inside the boxing arena that Mathebula had done enough to warrant a victory over Ndlovu.

The IBF champion successfully defended his belt when he outpointed Mexican boxer Giovanni Caro in Mexico on Saturday.

"A rematch between Ndlovu and Mathebula is possible now.

"Takalani did very well in Mexico after flying for three days," Milenkovic said.
