Kay Motsepe Schools Cup boosted

INSURANCE giants Sanlam and their partners Kay Motsepe Foundation and Ubuntu Botho Youth Development this week pledged their support and commitment to the annual Sanlam Kay Motsepe High Schools Cup for the next three years.

The annual tournament that was started in 2004 by Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe has a first prize of R1 million, which is R700,000 more than the winners of the National First Division get.

The insurance company came on board last year.

This year's edition is currently under way in Bloemfontein.

Sanlam sponsorship manager Frank Louw said: "We are committed to injecting our financial support to the tournament for the next three years. We were also impressed to know that the competition is the largest schools tournament in the world. We do not give money to the winning schools, instead we buy them whatever they wish for their schools and communities to the value of the prize.

"We are happy that the broader communities are also benefiting."
