Paul sees off Dipela and Ngcobo

PROMINENT Western Cape soccer boss Russell Paul has been appointed 2011 African Youth Championships tournament director

The tournament will be played in South Africa next month after Libya withdrew as hosts due to the political unrest in the North African country.

Safa president Kirsten Nematandani said Paul was shortlisted for the position with Andrew Dipela and Nathi Ngcobo.

"Russell's appointment is not a political decision but an administrative one. He ran the 2010 African Women's Championships and was 2010 World Cup host venue manager."

Paul is the man reportedly favoured by individuals in the Safa lobby group the Football Transformation Forum to replace Leslie Sedibe as CEO.

l Bafana have replaced the injured Mzivukile Tom with Prince Hlela.
