Modubi not worried about his future

MASILO Modubi is not worried about his future during the January transfer window despite being benched by injuries for almost 15 months.

The Belgium-based midfielder from Seshego in Polokwane said: "Westerlo is my home and I'm happy that the club has treated me so well when I was nursing injuries.

"The league gave us a 10-day festive season break. I will be going back to Belgium next week having recharged my batteries after spending quality time with my family.

"I know the transfer window period is on, but I still have one year and six months remaining on my contract with Westerlo.

"I'm not going anywhere. I have no immediate plans to come back home and continue playing soccer.

"Last year was terrible for me because of injuries but Westerlo supported me.

"It feels good to be back in action after such a long time. I played the entire match last Wednesday in our (2-1) defeat by Lierse.

"It was a great match for me because Lierse is the team that fellow South Africans Siboniso Gaxa, Daylon Claasen and Lance Davids play for.

"Bad weather forced the league to postpone a few matches in the past three to four weeks, otherwise I would have received more game time.

"God gave me the strength to overcome the injuries. It was not easy, especially being thousands of kilometres away from home. It was heart-breaking to watch the 2010 Fifa World Cup from the stands.

"I will keep on working hard because we still have the 2014 World Cup coming in Brazil."

Modubi started his soccer career at Ria Stars before he was snapped up by the Transnet Football School of Excellence.
