SOWETAN | Rising fuel prices need long-term fix

The rising cost of fuel has been a recurring feature in our lives but the latest jump, especially in the price of diesel, will have a debilitating effect on consumers and the economy.

Today, the price of diesel in Gauteng is R25.49 a litre — at least R1.43 than it was on Tuesday. Twelve months ago, the same litre cost about R17.20. The price of both 93 and 95 octane petrol increased by 51 cents to R22.87 in Gauteng. Paraffin has also increased by 77 cents a litre. ..
