Lucky they all know what they're doing

JACKSON Mthembu, the spokesman of the party led by Jacob "I know what I'm doing" Zuma, inadvertently disclosed his illness this week.

MILK OF AMNESIA

JACKSON Mthembu, the spokesman of the party led by Jacob "I know what I'm doing" Zuma, inadvertently disclosed his illness this week.

No no no. It is NOT the love of bottled liquids, as some terrible minds would suspect.

Vera, who was floating about when Mthembu met Goodman Gallery boss Lisa Esser, can vouch for his state of mind during the truce pact.

The disease Mthembu is suffering from is called amnesia.

The man who has spent the last few weeks frothing at the mouth and waving his fists at artists, gallery owner, newspapers, editors, freedom of speech activists and anyone who dared defend the now infamous Spear, had this to say: "We never threatened anyone. We used instruments in our constitution."

Vera would like to jog our amnesiac man's memory and remind him of this slogan: "Don't buy City Press, don't buy! Don't buy City Press, don't buy!"

SLOW START

Vera overheard Collins Chabane, the guitarman who moonlights as a government minister, waxing lyrical about the achievements of the current administration.

Chabane told members of Parliament: "Another significant accomplishment for the 2011/12 financial year is that the executive has begun to focus on frontline service delivery monitoring, with the president and ministers visiting institutions such as hospitals, schools, police stations and municipalities on an ongoing basis."

Has begun? Three years into President "I know what I'm doing's" term they have just begun?

A BILLION KISSES

Vera was unfortunately haunting elsewhere when the National Youth Development Agency held its kissing games at a cost of R100 million. What a pity she missed the fun.

But all is not lost. For those of us who missed out there might be another fun and games session.

NYDA makhulubaas Andile Lungisa went to Parliament this week to plead that his outfit's R400-million budget is way too low. He wants close to R1 billion.

This sounds fabulous. Can you just imagine what he will be able to do with all that money!

Whoohoo! Whoohoo! Vera can't wait!

BALEKA IN THE RUNNING

Vera might be invisible but she concedes that Baleka Mbete outdoes her.

The alleged ANC chairperson, who was last seen and heard in Bloemfontein during the party's centenary celebrations, was spotted this week.

Where? In Eastern Cape, heartland of the ABZ (Anyone But Zuma) campaign.

In the presence of? Nelson Mandela.

Asked who his preferred candidate to lead the ANC was, Madiba pointed in the direction of the invisible one: "This lady must lead the ANC!"

The invisible alleged chairperson smiled, but stopped just short of saying: "Yes Tata! Tata, could you please repeat that."

But given the kind of company Z is keeping these days, she stayed mum.

Who wants a certain Mdluli chap checking on their movements every day?
