Welcome to the new home of SowetanLIVE

Your favourite online news source, SowetanLIVE, has launched its slick, user-friendly new website.

You've had a sneak peek of our beta site and gave us some much-appreciated feedback on it. Now we are ready to introduce our new baby.

We have noted and applied some of your suggestions and believe we have created a website that will offer a great experience to all our readers.

Here are some of the comments we received:

The new version of SowetanLIVE can be described with FRESH and IN YOUR FACE (in a friendly way, though). I would normally go into the site, read stories and close it only to come back after 13:00, but this new version says “Stay with us for updates”. I don’t want to leave the site.Normally when sites change, you struggle to find basic things because they have been moved. However, SowetanLIVE is fresh.Great job, team. – Unathi Ndamoya

The new SowetanLIVE is more visual and user friendly and pictures are clearer. I love the fact that I can still access it from anywhere even in the comfort of my own home. After a long busy day at work I can still sit and browse on my phone to keep up with my current affairs.I love the new website. – Gerald Mashiloane

Sure it is an upgrade from the current one. The layout is very current, very 2018. The way in which the news is made available is convenient. I am a regular Sowetan online reader so I want access to different news from my phone.Again, the layout makes it easy to read the news from my phone. You are also correct, I have tested and indeed it doesn't use too much of my bundles. – Thami Ndlovu

A recap of what to expect on the new site

We have made browsing the site less of a chore through a simpler navigation bar, so you can move from one section to another and find the latest stories with ease.

The site is also fully responsive, meaning our page layouts will adjust automatically to make our articles a breeze to read on any mobile device.

Old favourites such as the comment section, Picture of the Day and the Wedding Blog will still be available.

While fake news has become a problem on the internet, SowetanLIVE’s technology includes the use of the secure HTTPS web publishing protocol to safeguard the website from third-party attacks and hijacking. This will protect readers from malware and guarantees that content originates from SowetanLIVE’s trusted newsroom.
