Torn from her mother's body‚ abandoned under a tree

A new-born baby girl was found abandoned under a tree this afternoon‚ hours after her birth. The umbilical cord had been completely torn.

Paramedics found the baby next to a railway area in Cassandra in Kimberly.

“The baby was immediately assessed and found to be apparently just a few hours old. Paramedics also noticed that the umbilical cord had been completely torn and that the child was suffering from mild hypothermia. ER24 paramedics immediately treated the child and gradually began to warm her. Once treated‚ paramedics transported her to Kimberley Provincial Hospital for urgent treatment.”
