The report into state capture drawn up by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has been handed to her successor Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Parliament – where the report was sent for safekeeping after a legal challenge to prevent it from being made public – has confirmed that the report was sent to Mkhwebane‚ eNCA (http://www.enca.com/south-africa/new-public-protector-busisiwe-mkhwebane-sent-state-capture-reports) reported on Tuesday.

Madonsela was due to release the report on Friday‚ the last day of her seven-year non-renewable term as public protector‚ but could not as Minister of Co-operative Governance Des van Rooyen and President Jacob Zuma launched urgent applications before the High Court in Pretoria to prevent its publication.

The court cases will be heard on November 1. — TMG Digital
