Brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev’s takeover of SABMiller will on Monday come before the Competition Tribunal.

At the hearing‚ the tribunal expects to hear arguments for or against the merger from the Competition Commission‚ the minister of economic development‚ Heineken‚ the Black Business Forum‚ the Tavern Owners Association‚ Distell and the merging parties‚ it said in a statement.

The commission has recommended that the Tribunal gives the merger the go-ahead if Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) agrees not to appoint any directors to the board of Distell.

Distell is a direct competitor and AB InBev will acquire holdings in it should the merger succeed.

The commission also wants the company to create a R1-billion fund over five years for the development of the South African agricultural outputs for barley‚ hops and maize.

It also said AB InBev should support emerging black farmers and source products like glass bottles‚ cans‚ bottle crowns and raw materials for beer from South Africa.

AB InBev‚ listed on the Euronext Brussels and New York stock exchanges‚ produces‚ markets and distributes beer and soft drinks and supplies beer to the South African market.

BDLive reported on Tuesday that SABMiller head Alan Clark is set to earn £55-million after the merger’s completion.
