Man apparently assaulted‚ thrown off bridge

A man is understood to have been assaulted and then thrown off the Govan Mbeki bridge onto the R300 road Mitchell’s Plain and Nyanga near Cape Town on Tuesday morning‚ paramedics said.

“ER24 paramedics who were on their way home after their shift saw authorities and stopped to find out if everything was okay. They were informed about the man who fell off the bridge‚” ER24 emergency medical service said.

“It is believed that the man was apparently on his way to work when he was allegedly assaulted and thrown off the bridge. Paramedics found the man lying face down.

“Upon assessment it was found that he sustained injuries to his head and was in a serious condition‚” ER24 said.

The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to hospital for further medical care‚ it said.
