Nyanga cops nabbed on house robbery charges

Two Nyanga police officers were apprehended on Monday morning and are to face charges of house robbery.

A statement from the Western Cape South African Police Service (SAPS) said the arrests were made by the provincial Organised Crime Unit.

“One member was on duty and the other was arrested at his residence following investigation into a house robbery case that occurred in November last year at a house in Retreat‚ Cape Town‚” it said.

They are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

“The arrest indicates that SAPS management is unequivocal in its quest to rid itself of bad elements within its ranks‚” the statement said.
