Singers entertain DA marchers amid political speeches

The Johannesburg CBD came to standstill on Wednesday as thousands of Democratic Alliance (DA) members marched in the city centre demanding jobs.

The march started at Westgate station next to the Johannesburg magistrate’s court‚ up Marshall street into Rissik street and down Jeppe‚ causing a huge traffic jam.

A stage was erected on the corner of Jeppe and Sauer streets next to the billboard which the DA had put demanding jobs but was allegedly torn by the ruling party.

DA members enjoyed music from a Liquideep group member‚ Ziyon‚ and Bucie.

The crowd enjoyed the music and speeches from DA mayoral candidates as the temperatures continued to rise by lunchtime.

Nelson Mandela metro mayoral candidate Athol Trollip said the ANC was hiding behind race and not creating much-needed jobs.

“We are tired of poverty. The ANC is failing to create jobs and hiding behind race.”

DA leader Mmusi Maimane will address the crowd shortly.
