'Considerable force' was used in Flabba stabbing: Forensic pathologist

On the fourth day of the ongoing murder trial of Sindisiwe Manqele, Dr Thandi Mahuluhulu, a forensic pathologist, took to the witness stand.

Dr Mahuluhulu conducted the postmortem on the deceased Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi, following his death in March.

The postmortem results showed that the rapper's cause of death was a stab wound to the chest, his heart was pierced.

Mahuluhulu told the court that the definition of a stab wound is a wound that is deeper than it is wide.

The forensic pathologist further said that this was due to the impact of the knife.

Mahuluhulu was presented with the knife that is believed to have been the murder weapon. She confirmed that it is possible that the knife could be the murder weapon.

The court heard from Mahuluhulu that the stab wound was caused by ‘considerable force’. She went on to say that it is difficult to determine the depth of the wound. She also could not shed any light on the direction of the knife when it entered the deceased’s chest and she could not confirm where the accused was standing during the stabbing.

But Dr Mahuluhulu could confirm that the knife entered the rappers chest from the left to the right.

The deceased had no other injuries besides the stab wound.

During her cross examination forensic pathologist, did mention that the rapper's movements at the time could have affected the impact of his injuries.
