Man airlifted to hospital following Umkomaas crash

KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services paramedics airlifted a young man injured in a collision involving two light motor vehicles on the R102 at Umkomaas.

“One of the patients‚ a young man‚ was trapped inside his wrecked vehicle and had to be extricated. He was critically injured during the crash‚” a spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal emergency services said on Monday.

“The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health’s helicopter was called to the scene to airlift this patient to hospital. The helicopter landed on the road near the crash scene.

“The other injured patients‚ a pregnant lady and a young man‚ sustained serious injuries and were treated on the scene before being transported to local hospitals‚ including GJ Crookes hospital‚ for continued medical care.”
