A driver smashed into a crowd of Ferguson protesters in Minnesota, then dragged a woman 20 feet under his front wheel before running over her leg. The hit-and-run was captured by CCTV and news cameras.

The motorist was captured on video speeding toward the group in a dark-colored vehicle during a protest in Minneapolis yesterday..

He plowed into demonstrators, before smashing into a woman and carried her along the road under his front-left wheel, while another protester clung to its hood.

Bystanders rushed to the woman's aid while the car briefly stopped before driving off.

However, it came to a halt further down the road and the driver was reportedly taken into custody.

The incident occurred a day after the grand jury's decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown in the suburb of Ferguson in St Louis, Missouri, on August 9 was announced.
