Cypriot national George Louca, accused of killing Teazers strip club boss Lolly Jackson will no longer be appearing in court in person, The Star reported on Friday.
His lawyer Owen Blumberg told Kempton Magistrate's Court on Thursday, where Louca was set to appear on a separate charge of possession of stolen property, that his client's security had been compromised.
"There is a very real possibility that my client will have to be placed in new detention facilities," he was quoted as saying.
Blumberg said he had come to an agreement with the State to have Louca "appear" in court through a closed circuit television system.
The newspaper reported on Thursday that it learnt through unnamed sources there was a plot to assassinate Louca.
The case was remanded to August 6.
Louca was extradited to South Africa in February after losing a final appeal, the last of several attempts to avoid extradition.
He fled South Africa after Jackson was killed at a house on the East Rand on May 3, 2010.
He was expected to appear in the Johannesburg High Court, to sit at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court from January 26 to March 6 next year for the murder of Jackson.
