Soweto man arrested for murdering father

"The man came [on Tuesday] and reported there was a house robbery at his home, where his father was found dead by police on their arrival," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Robville, Soweto, for allegedly stabbing his father to death, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

"The man came [on Tuesday] and reported there was a house robbery at his home, where his father was found dead by police on their arrival," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

"A case of murder was opened. Upon investigation, it appeared it was the man who allegedly killed his father. What happened is that they allegedly had a fight, and he used a knife to stab his father to death."

The man was injured during the attack, and was admitted to hospital on Tuesday unaware police had linked him to the murder.

"The man is now under police guard in hospital," said Makhubela.

He was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court once he had recovered.
