The trial of SA National Defence Force (SANDF) members who embarked on an illegal protest march in Pretoria will resume on Monday.
Defence spokesman Brig-Gen Xolani Mabanga said in a statement on Thursday that the soldiers, implicated in the illegal protest march to the Union Buildings on August 26, 2009, are appearing before the military court for disobeying the army's Military Disciplinary Supplementary Measures Act.
The proceedings, involving about 220 soldiers would take place at the SA Army Gymnasium in Heidelberg.
The presiding judge of the military court postponed the matter on July 9 after hearing argument by the prosecution and defence lawyers. Pre-trial proceedings were held in May.
The case follows the illegal march by soldiers affiliated to the SA National Defence Union to push for better wages. The march turned violent when soldiers tried to climb the fence around the Union Buildings and metro police and police fired rubber bullets and teargas.
