'Pastor forced himself on niece'

THE father of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly repeatedly raped by her uncle, a pastor, has vowed to do everything he can to make sure the man is arrested.

The 48-year-old pastor has been on the run since the case was opened at the Soshanguve police station about seven weeks ago.

The teen's father said he and the pastor are half-brothers, who share the same father.

The pastor was last seen at a house in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, by a member of the public a few weeks ago.

"When we went to the house he was not there. We found the house's windows open," the girl's father said.

"By now that man should have been arrested," he added.

He said the teenager went to live with her uncle's family when she was 13, in September last year, to be closer to the church in Soshanguve.

She stayed in an outside room. The pastor allegedly started raping her soon after she arrived.

In December she fell ill and was taken to hospital where the family discovered she was pregnant and had miscarried.

It was after she was discharged from Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in GaRankuwa that the girl told her parents she had allegedly been raped repeatedly by her uncle from the time she started staying with the family until sometime in December.

The pastor is believed to have disappeared from his home shortly after the case was opened. Soshanguve police spokeswoman, Constable Reneilwe Moloisane, said that investigations are continuing.
