Proceedings resumed with investigating officer Tsietsi Mano taking the stand.

ALLEGATIONS of sodomy resurfaced in the Eugene Terre'Blanche murder trial in the Ventersdorp Circuit Court yesterday.

Proceedings resumed with investigating officer Tsietsi Mano taking the stand.

Chris Mahlangu and a minor are charged with beating Terre'Blanche to death in his farmhouse outside Ventersdorp, North West, on April 3 2010.

Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder, housebreaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mahlangu claims he acted in self-defence. The minor has denied any involvement in the crime.

Mahlangu's attorney, Kgomotso Tlouane, asked Mano if he knew about allegations of sodomy involving his client and Terre'Blanche.

"No, it never surfaced in my investigation. He (Mahlangu) never mentioned it to me. Just before the postmortem by a pathologist, I asked the doctor if she saw semen as I had been getting media inquiries about it.

"She said no," said Mano.

He said he did not see the body before the postmortem so he could not confirm allegations of a substance seen around Terre'Blanche's genitals.

Tlouane then asked if the pathologist was lying when she testified that there was never any communication to her about semen.

"I am testifying on my part. Maybe she forgot that I asked her before the postmortem," said Mano.

Tlouane said his client was sodomised on the day of the murder.

Mano said police examined both of the accused's bodies, and that he was not informed by his forensic colleagues about anything that suggested sodomy.

"Why was the substance not found on the victim?" asked Mano.

He said when Mahlangu confessed to him, the accused said he and the minor killed Terre'Blanche because of a pay dispute.

He said Mahlangu told him Terre'Blanche had refused to pay him and the minor on April 3 because Terre'Blanche insisted that three cows were missing from his herd of 97.

Terre'Blanche allegedly refused to let the workers, who were sure that all the cows were accounted for, re-count them, Mano said in court.

After spending some time drinking at a neighbouring farm, the accused made their way back to Terre'Blanche's farmhouse at about 5pm, he said.

Along the way they agreed that Terre'Blanche should be killed because he always gave them problems when they were supposed to be paid.

Mano said Mahlangu told him that they stopped by the storeroom where they found an iron rod before they entered the farmhouse through a window and found Terre'Blanche fast asleep on his bed.

The officer said Mahlangu beat Terre'Blanche several times on the head and chest before the minor took the rod and did the same.

"Mahlangu said he pulled Terre'Blanche's pants down and exposed his genitals.

"His intention was to dismember Terre'Blanche. But he decided against it," said Mano.

The trial continues.
