Healers defraud woman

The men told her she should resign from her job and withdraw all the money she had in her bank accounts. They told her to give them the money, so they could 'multiply' it for her.

Two men posing as traditional healers allegedly conned a woman out of thousands of rands in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Lt-Col Vincent Mdunge said the two Malawian men told a woman last month she had bad luck and they had to perform rituals to rid her of it.

Mdunge said the men told her she should resign from her job and withdraw all the money she had in her bank accounts. They told her to give them the money, so they could “multiply” it for her.

“The men subsequently disappeared and so did hundreds of thousands of rands of her money,” he said.

Mdunge could not give an exact figure.

Police are still searching for the men.
