Khabonina told to pay up or else...

SEXY choreographer and actress Khabonina Qubeka is in hot water.

This was after she unceremoniously pulled out of a booking as a compere shortly before the event.

Eva Nteso of Gauteng Dance Manyano says they had booked Qubeka to Mcee at the Dance Manyano Awards event at Emperors Palace on September 1.

Nteso told Sowetan yesterday Qubeka only informed them a week before the event that she had a show at the Market Theatre that same evening.

"We were shocked when she told us she was not going to make it because all systems were in place and we had already paid her R8500," Nteso said.

"She told us that she was going to send Ntsiki Mazwai as a replacement. When we told her we did not want Ntsiki, she rudely told us that it was not her problem."

Nteso said they were shocked when Mazwai just rocked up on the day of the show.

"We refused to let her perform. We told her that we did not have an agreement with her."

Nteso added that later Qubeka called her and demanded a cancellation fee for Mazwai.

"We don't understand why we have to pay someone a cancellation fee when we did not even book her. All we want from her is the refund because she failed to honour our agreement."

But Qubeka denies any wrongdoing.

"I told them early in August to find a replacement because I was doing a theatre show. They sent the money even though I told them not to. They asked me to find a replacement. I tried Wright Ngubane (Rhythm City star) and Rosie Motene to replace me but they were both busy. Then I called Ntsiki, who said she had a gig on the day. She later cancelled the show to do this."

Qubeka added that she did not owe anybody any money.

"I gave the R8500 to Ntsiki. It's not my problem they did not allow her to perform."

Efforts to speak to Mazwai were unsuccessful at the time of going to press.
