Happy with the murder plan

THE man who gunned down Naledi mayor Motlatsi Motloi in Free State said he was happy with the murder plan.

Senooe Khaka told the Bloemfontein high court yesterday that Motloi owed him R5000 for a job he did for him in 2009.

State witness Sebata Potele, who wrapped up his testimony yesterday, said Khaka told him he (Khaka) wanted the mayor killed because he had an issue with him. He said Khaka said this during meetings they held to plan Motloi's death.

"Khaka raised that and was supported by accused number one Caroline Mokhothu who said the job must be done soon."

Potele said Khaka did not specify the job he had done for the mayor.

"Khaka was mainly interested in how much he was going to pocket out of this," he said.

According to Potele, Mokhothu and her husband, James Mokhothu, wanted to see a traditional healer in Lesotho before the "job" was done.

He said the Mokhothus believed Motloi was using muthi against them.

Motloi, 32, was shot dead at his house in Wepener on May 3. Khaka has since been sentenced to 21 years in jail for the murder.
