Magwaza-Msibi bats for the less fortunate

NATIONAL Freedom Party leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi has established a foundation aimed at helping the destitute.

The initiative, known as the Zanele Magwaza-Msibi Foundation, will, among other things, focus on poverty eradication and skills development.

The foundation will also serve as a disaster relief agency and address common social ills like HIV-Aids, unemployment, drugs and substance abuse.

In a statement released yesterday, Magwaza Msibi said: "The main objective is that the foundation will act as a vehicle in carrying out my humanitarian passions in the development of black communities.

"It will work on two levels, in pursuance of my passion in community development, beyond being a politician. This means that it won't be limited by any political affiliation, my position as Zululand municipality mayor or by any boundaries."

She said the aim was for the foundation to be self-sustaining through donations and fund-raising efforts.

The foundation plans to build a house for a destitute family in Nongoma and two more houses will be built in Ulundi soon.
