Probe into R2bn tender

"Thick" dossier relating to the allocation of a R2,1 billion housing project

PUBLIC Protector Thuli Madonsela's office in KwaZulu-Natal and the Special Investigating Unit confirmed yesterday that they will investigate a complaint by the DA after receiving a "thick" dossier relating to the allocation of a R2,1billion housing project.

KZN's housing budget is R2,6billion. The R2,1billion project was allocated to the Vulindlela Housing Project in Pietermaritzburg and a tender was awarded to Dezzo Holdings.

Dezzo shareholders include MPL and former ANC provincial secretary Sipho Gcabashe, former IFP MP Sipho Mfayela and former ANC MP Mpho Scott.

One of the directors is Alpha Shelembe, who resigned last month as Msunduzi municipal deputy mayor.
