Female con artist is bust

For a fee of R600, she promised to help people enrol into police college

A woman was arrested in George for impersonating a police officer, Western Cape police said on Friday.

Captain Bernadine Steyn said the 22-year-old woman was arrested at 1.30pm on Thursday during a sting-operation at a clothing store in Hibernia Street.

The operation was launched after police received information that a woman, impersonating an officer, was recruiting members of the public at a fee.

Police arranged to meet the woman at the clothing store where she told them she was an inspector from George police station with six years’ experience.

“She also told the member that for a fee of R600 she will send anyone who is interested to become a member of SAPS to college.”
