Armed robbers shoot dead a brave car guard

A CAR guard was shot dead by robbers as she tried to assist two Pakistani businessmen outside Kit Kat Cash and Carry in Pretoria West yesterday morning

Chantel Voster, 26, of Pretoria West, was allegedly shot dead by robbers at about 8am.

Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the store was about to open when two Pakistani businessmen arrived in separate vehicles at the parking area. One was driving a VW City Golf and the other a white Isuzu bakkie. Two armed men confronted them and robbed the one in a City Golf of R20000 and the other was robbed of R92000 in cash.

Msimango said the car guard saw what was happening and in an attempt to stop the robbers from fleeing in the bakkie, she grabbed the keys and dashed towards the exit of the shop "when the gunman next to the City Golf fired a shot at her, hitting her once in the head."

A security guard at the store tried to apprehend one of the robbers and was shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital.

By yesterday afternoon police had launched a massive search for the gunmen and no arrests were made.
