Muthi killing: bishop in court

A BISHOP and his wife, accused of the murder and mutilation of a 4-year-old girl in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, two years ago, may face further charges

The couple - Monde Tokwe, 48, and Nolufefe Magasane, 50 - and their two accomplices, inyangas Fundisile Sidumo, 47, and Vusi Mofokeng, 44, appeared in the Alberton magistrate's court yesterday for a bail application.

They are facing charges of murder and of contravening the Human Tissue Act.

The four allegedly killed the girl and mutilated her body before it was dumped in an open veld.

Police say the bishop consulted inyangas in a bid to boost the numbers at his church after his congregation dwindled.

The inyangas allegedly told him to get human body parts to boost the membership.

The four were remanded in custody and are expected to appear in court again next week.
