Juju's case for March

A MALE activist group has indicated that it will appeal against ANCYL leader Julius Malema's attempts to have a fine against him cancelled.

The application by Malema to reinstate an appeal against the hate speech finding on his "nice time" rape remark has been postponed for next month.

Sonke Gender Justice Network lawyer Chris Todd said yesterday that the application had been postponed by the Johannesburg high court on mutual agreement by both parties for a date to be set on March 8.

The order handed to the court said "the appellant will lodge an application for enrolment of the appeal hearing, together with the present application, for the reinstatement of the appeal on or before March 8 2011".

Malema had said in 2009: "When a woman didn't enjoy it (sex), she leaves early in the morning. Those who had a nice time will wait until the sun comes out, request breakfast and ask for taxi money."

He was insinuating to the rape case involving President Jacob Zuma and his accuser.

The network brought a complaint against him in the equality court.

The court ordered Malema to apologise for the remark and to pay R50000 to the network.

Malema is appealing.
