WEEKS after each family received R10 000 as compensation for not being able to occupy their land, Indumo community members in northern KwaZulu-Natal will today sign a co-management agreement with KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife, the provincial department of agriculture, environmental affairs and rural development.
Departmental spokesperson Ncumisa Mafunda said yesterday the money was to compensate the communities for their loss.
He said the agreement would see communities being involved in developmental projects.
"We are glad the matter is being resolved since the communities were starting to lose patience," Mafunda said.
"T he co-management agreement will benefit communities because they will be allowed to enter the conservation area in search of medicinal plants and herbs." Mafunda said.
