Mulalo sentencing only in January

Pre-sentencing arguments for the killers of Avhatakali Netshisaulu were postponed to January 24 by the High Court in Johannesburg today

Netshisaulu’s widow Mulalo Unity Sivhidzo and her co-accused, Ntambudzeni Matzhenene and Arnold Johannes Sello, were on Tuesday found guilty of his December 2006 murder.

Sivhidzo conspired with Matzhenene, offering him R4,000 to arrange hitmen, who included Sello, to murder her husband so she could inherit his estate.

Netshisaulu was confronted by a group of men on the Nooitgedacht  road in Honeydew. They drove him to a nearby bush where they assaulted him, tied him up and bundled him into the boot of his VW Citi Golf. They poured petrol over his car and set it alight. His charred body was found after a plot owner alerted police to a car on fire near his home.

  • Power cuts at the High Court in Johannesburg were expected to delay some cases on Wednesday. The entrance to the court was jammed as lawyers and the public tried to enter the building.
