Power failure hits Mulalo judgment

Avatakali Netshisaulu had been married for seven months when he was murdered. His widow is standing trial with two co-accused

Judgment in the trial of Mulalo Sivhidzo, accused of killing her  husband Avatakali Netshisaulu, was delayed by a power failure at the High Court in Johannesburg on Monday.

Judge Naren Pandya adjourned proceedings when, having started reading his judgment, the lights went out.

Sivhidzo and her co-accused Ntabudzeni Matzhenene and Arnold Sello are accused of murdering Netshisaulu, the son of former City Press editor Mathatha Tsedu.

The State alleges they conspired to kill Netshisaulu. His charred body was found in the boot of his car, which had been set alight on November 7, 2006.

All the accused pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, robbery  and damage to property.

Pandya said Sivhidzo pointed out Matzhenene as a suspect in the murder. Matzhenene then implicted Sello. Sivhidzo was arrested later.

The couple had been married for seven months.
