SUSPENDED SABC boss Solly Mokoetle was using the uMkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association to fight his battles with the broadcaster's board, the ANCYL said yesterday.
"The fact that the statement of the MKMVA is 100percent similar to what the suspended group chief executive has said confirms our suspicions that he is opportunistically using the MKMVA to fight internal board issues," ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu said in a statement.
The league did not have views on the matter but "strongly believed" that the board should be given the space to oversee management and corporate governance issues at the SABC.
Shivambu's comments follow an MKMVA media briefing in which its chairperson Kebby Maphatsoe warned that the association was to lay criminal charges against the board for alleged corruption. He also demanded their immediate resignation and the reinstatement of Mokoetle.
