THE Patrick "Ace'' Ntsoelengoe School Sports soccer tournament has reached its climax with the semifinals taking place at Munsieville Grounds in Krugersdorp tomorrow.

The yearly tournament is staged in honour of the legendary former Kaizer Chiefs star who passed on in 2006.

The tournament, which features primary and high schools from Krugersdorp, is the brainchild of Mogale City executive mayor Calvin Seerane. It is staged in partnership with the Patrick "Ace" Ntsoelengoe Foundation and Gauteng West's department of education.

Mogale City manager marketing and communication Bongani Gaeje is confident this year's instalment of the tournament will raise the bar for the World Cup.

Apart from keeping pupils away from drugs and crime, Gaeje said the tournament also aimed at honouring legends who contributed to the growth of soccer in Mogale City.

Thato Ntsoelengoe, director of the Patrick "Ace" Ntsoelengoe Foundation, said yesterday that she was humbled by the commitment shown by the stakeholders who were making sure her late husband's memory lived on.

The winners of the tournament will get computers, gold medals and trophies while the runners-up will receive silver medals.

The matches start at 9am.
