Zuma to speak at ANC Imvuselelo launch

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma will be the main speaker during the launch of the Imvuselelo Campaign at KaMhlushwa Stadium in Nkomazi, Mpumalanga, on Sunday.

The national ANC rally, under the theme Building and Consolidating the Unity of the Movement towards 2012, starts at 9am.

ANC national executive committee (NEC) members, leaders of the alliance, the mass democratic movement and thousands of ANC supporters are expected to attend.

ANC provincial secretary Lucky Ndinisa said during a press conference in Nelspruit yesterday: "The president will welcome new members, lead them through a declaration of new members' commitments and hand them a package of policy documents, including the constitution ... and the January 8 2010 statement to guide them in their daily workings."

Ndinisa, who was with MEC for human settlements Madala Masuku at the media briefing, said the ANC provincial leadership was impressed that the NEC had decided to bring the event to Mpumalanga.

"This event came at a time when our regions and branches are hard at work recruiting and educating membership on the culture and traditions of the ANC," he said.

Ndinisa said the campaign was about carrying out the objectives the ANC had set itself to continue providing effective service delivery.

Both Ndinisa and Masuku discounted claims that the event was taking place in Mpumalanga because of alleged divisions within the ANC in the province or the high number of service delivery protests that had rocked the province.
