"I want to be a champion, and as a result I will do everything possible to ensure that we end the league programme with the title in our hands," Vermezovic said .
"I am impressed by the team's recent revival, so I am confident of clinching the league title. We will use our experienced players in the last six matches because it is too early for some of the youngsters to play against big teams, especially the last, crucial matches."
Vermezovic downplayed Saturday's victory over log leaders SuperSport United in the final, saying they were more interested in the league title.
He was overjoyed with the workout his players got from the two matches at the new stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.
The first match was the semifinal against Bidvest Wits, which Chiefs won 4-2 on penalties.
On the recent inclusion of Michael "Skaapie" Nkambule in the team, Vermezovic said the former South African youth international was initially not in his plans because he arrived at the club well into the season.
Wits coach Roger de Sa said he was satisfied with his boys' recent form and that he was confident that they would qualify for the MTN8.
"The fact that we scored more goals this season is an indication that we will finish in the top eight bracket from position 12 where we are now.
"I am confident with the current squad, that is why I only reinforced it with Nkululeko Hadebe from our development division.
"The return of Calvin Kadi and Maraawan Bantam from injuries will also help bring stability in terms of scoring goals," said De Sa.
On the other hand, United's coach Gavin Hunt was cagey about his club's chances of winning their third successive championship title.
"We are not worried about our closest contenders, instead our focus will be on one match at a time.
"We need to maintain our good form. Our recent defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns and the way they have closed the gap between us has not affected our performance badly, instead it has motivated us." Hunt said yesterday.
