MAMELODI Sundowns held their awards ceremony for the 2008-2009 season on Saturday in Tshwane, and Surprise Moriri was voted the club's player of the season.

Moriri has won this award, which offers a R150000 prize, once before. Former SuperSport United defender Siboniso Gaxa, who has grown in leaps and bounds in the Bafana Bafana setup, was voted players' player of the season in his first season with the Brazilians. The prize was R100000. Supporters were also acknowledged for their contribution, and the Mamelodi West branch won the branch of the year prize and R40 000.
