THE 15-YEAR-OLD boy admitted to Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa after he was allegedly shot by a farmer who suspected him and his friends of being orange thieves has been transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Tshwane.

Brits police spokesperson Inspector Brian Dlamini said the farmer opened fire on Tebogo Tabane, 13, Thabo Tabane, 15, Leornard Nkadimeng, 19, and Ntshocho Ntwagae, 26, while they were walking past an orange farm in Brits, North West, on Sunday night.

Inspector Dlamini said Thabo was shot on the left eye and his companions sustained minor gunshot wounds during the attack.

"He (Thabo) was rushed to hospital as he was in a critical condition," he said.

Inspector Dlamini said 55-year-old Dawie Swart, a medical doctor, was arrested on his farm on Sunday.

He appeared in the Brits magistrate's court on Monday on four charges of attempted murder.

Swart was released on bail and the matter was postponed to July 7.
