Sedibane hit back in Turkey
Rosina Sedibane Secondary School must beat Italy in Antalya, Turkey, today to advance to the quarterfinals of the World Schools Soccer Cup.
This was after the SuperSport United development-linked school walloped Greece 4-1 yesterday to register their second consecutive win.
Guided by Godfrey Mosoetsa, Sedibane revived their hopes of going all the way to the finals after hammering Poland 15-0 on Tuesday night.
Earlier on Tuesday, they were defeated 2-1 by Slovakia. Their tournament got off to a bad start after hosts Turkey pipped them 1-0, but they gave a spirited performance.
Innocent Sirovha, Sedibane's head of delegation, said: "We are proud of Rosina Sedibane here in Turkey, the dream of reaching the finals is living on."
Mosoetsa said: "We are back on track in terms of delivering on our promise of winning the World Schools Soccer Cup.
"We started on a bad note but the boys have since regrouped. We missed dozens of scoring opportunities in the first two games."
Sedibane have been accompanied to Turkey by Safa national executive member David Nhlabathi.
