Two probed for Mohlala murder
Police took two men into custody this week in connection with the assassination of Mbombela municipality council speaker Jimmy Mohlala - but have since released them.
Mpumalanga police have also revealed that they have launched a manhunt for a third man who could be linked to the murder.
Two men in their 20s were picked up on Monday but police released them on Wednesday after intensive questioning.
Captain Leonard Hlathi said the men were released after detectives established they were "not connected" to the murder.
Hlathi identified the third man police were looking for as Vincent Nkosi from the crime-ridden Pienaar Trust, east of Nelspruit.
He said anyone who knew Nkosi's whereabouts should call Captain Welcome Gcabashe on 082-319-3481 or Hlathi himself on 082-462-0804.
Mohlala's memorial service will be held at the Mbombela civic hall from midday on Saturday and his funeral is expected to take place at KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday.
