I saw a man assault a woman in the street in full view of people in Hatfield last week.

The man, who looked to be aged between 29 and 35, ordered the woman to run to him. He shouted at her: "Where the hell did you think you were going. I am going to kill you today."

The woman was submissive. The angry, crazed man repeated several times that he was going to kill the woman before slapping her repeatedly in the face.

I looked around to check if anyone was concerned about the fact that this man was abusing the poor woman.

Not a single person or car stopped to help the woman. Not a single person took out a cellphone to call the police to ask for help.

The man beat the woman terribly for about ten minutes. The woman did not run away or even scream. She was numb.

I could see that she was trying to explain something to the man. The man kicked her like a dog and slapped her repeatedly. Still no one did anything.

What saddened me even more was that this happened while we are observing the 16 Days Against Women Abuse.

If a man can abuse a woman in full view of the public, and the public turns a blind eye, I wonder how many women are being abused behind closed doors?
