What Msimang said was that the AG's office had earlier reported to the committee that it was unable to complete its Who Am I Online contract audit as the department had not cooperated with the process and not presented the required information.
It was when Msimang pointed out that the said tender had been implemented by Sita, not Home Affairs, and as such, it was the custodian of all information required by the AG's office. On November 19, this office wrote to the committee clarifying the matter and apologising for the error.
Another incorrect statement refers to senior managers who had failed competency tests having to accept demotions or severance packages. These tests were conducted in 2006 and have no bearing on current restructuring. They were carried out as part of the diagnosis of the department that informed the turnaround programme currently underway. In September/October the exercise was repeated and of the 55 senior managers, 43 passed the tests.
