stars hold swallows
Moroka Swallows and Platinum Stars shared the spoils in an Absa Premiership match at Orlando Stadium yesterday, playing to a tedious goalless draw.
The two dished out a completely different game to the sizzling six-goal encounter of Saturday night, though the hosts did try to get the goal that would have settled things for them early on.
But while Lefa Tsutsulupa and Morgan Shivambu were steady in the middle, up front David Radebe and Elton Morelato either miscued their shots or were denied by Stars goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini.
In the second minute of the match, Radebe's shot from a Mark Haskins cross went flying over the crossbar, and so did Morelato's six minutes later.
For their part, the visitors could not manage a shot at goal until the 20th minute when Swallows goalie Greg Etafia had to save from Tshepo Ramokala, and then again three minutes later after Hareaipha Marumo had made a good run on the left flank, and crossed to Luis Renteria. The Colombian headed straight at Etafia.
In an improved second half, a goal looked certain in the 49th minute but Ramokala was denied by Etafia, who quickly came off his line to avert the danger.
