The Benoni police are investigating yet another racist slur incident in which a teacher allegedly assaulted a pupil and called him "a fat black kaffir".

Thabang Mokoena, 15, lodged a case of assault after the alleged incident at Belvedere High School in Benoni, Ekurhuleni.

Sowetan reported that Parktown Primary School principal Allen Rowe was arrested for allegedly assaulting Moeketsi Chui on Monday.

Teboho Mokoena wrote to the SA Human Rights Commission and Gauteng education authorities after his Grade 7 son Thabang was allegedly assaulted .

"Our latest report on human rights development shows that blatant racism continues to be on the increase," commission spokesman Vincent Moaga said.

Mokoena wrote: "My son told me that during the attack the teacher grabbed him by his collar and violently pushed him out of class, banging his head against the door.

"Once outside the teacher hit him with open hands across his face and on his private parts. He kept on telling my son that he was a 'fat black bastard and a kaffir'."

Mokoena said the alleged attack happened when his son challenged the teacher on being biased towards a fellow white pupil.

He told Sowetan yesterday that he believed that a white police officer who was called in by the school was unfair.

"The officer even had the audacity of referring to a previous case for which my son had already been disciplined, threatening to incite the alleged victim in that case to lay criminal charges against my son if I proceeded with my intentions to lay criminal charges against the teacher," the aggrieved father said.

Benoni police spokesman Constable Joshua Dhladhla confirmed that a case of common assault was opened against a teacher whose name is known to Sowetan.
