diva back for more
After an energy-oozing performance last year at the Divas Concert in Centurion, American singer Oleta Adams is coming back to Mzansi again.
Adams, who seems to have found a home away from home in South Africa, will be performing in the Free State and Cape Town next month.
The singer will not be alone. She will be sharing the stage with South African-born jazz singer and guitarist Jonathan Butler and US saxophonist Kirk Whalum.
The trio kick off their tour with a performance at Grand Arena in Cape Town on October 8. Then they will perform at Sand du Plessis Theatre, Bloemfontein, on October 10. The tour will wrap up on October 11 at Loch Logan Park, Bloemfontein.
Based in Los Angeles, Butler will be returning to his hometown of Cape Town. The two-time Grammy nominated songwriter, guitarist and producer is one of the most talented singers South Africa has produced.
Having begun singing publicly in townships at the age of seven, Butler joined Calders Jive Records at the age of 13.
Saxophonist Whalum is one of the smooth jazz artists.
Born in 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee, in the US, he grew up against a musical background.
Some of the local artists who will be featured in the Cape Town show include the likes of Thabo Mdluli, Denim and HHP.
Tickets for the Cape Town show are available at Computicket from R176.
