Harmony in mean mood
Free State's Harmony High School are confident they will have an easy walk to the national championships of the Vodacom Inter-school Challenge, when they take part in the provincial deciders on Saturday.
The provincial championships will be hosted at Lady Brand Stadium near Bloemfontein. This inaugural Under-16 schools soccer tournament replaces the MTN Cup, and the national championships will be played at Hyundai Park, Klipspruit in Soweto on October 1 to 4.
The national champions will take home R200 000, and represent South Africa at the Schools World Cup in Turkey from April 3 to 13 next year.
Harmony's coach Pitso "Tsipas" Mokoena said there is no way they will underestimate their opponents on Saturday.
"We have dominated Free State in the past three years and want to maintain the status quo. Our recent victory over Lephola in the province's Engen U-16 championships provided more motivation to clinch the provincial title," Mokoena said.
Harmony are the reigning champions of the Kay Motsepe Cup after their 3-2 victory over Meadowlands High recently.
But it will not be smooth sailing for Harmony as the likes of Louis Botha Technical High School of Bloemfontein are in the race with Dr Cingo from Kroonstad, Ntsu High from Bethlehem and Relebohile High from Smithfield.
