The Rise Up Bible Church in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, yesterday moved its focus from spiritual to money matters.

About 200 entrepreneurs gathered at the Rise Up Bible Church for a business seminar against poverty.

The seminar was sponsored by Audi Centre Bruma and was conducted by the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP).

"The seminar is part of our business development programme," said seminar coordinator Thulani Sithole.

"It isn't just financial support that small businesses struggle with but knowing how to run their businesses."

Sithole said that this was part of the church's initiative in fighting poverty and unemployment.

"Our vision is to equip every person for the God-designed life and success, said Pastor Joel Motlafi.

"Through the seminar people from the townships will get to know what opportunities there are for them to fight poverty."

GEP chief operations officer Thandi Ngqobe spoke about the services offered.

"Being involved with the church enables us to reach the townships," Ngqobe said.
