Amarhoba joins the global village
It looks as if 2008 will be a good year for Soweto-based kwaito outfit Amarobha.
They have just released their second album, Phansi Phezulu, and have decided to go international.
Xolani Hlatshwayo, Thulani Mlotshwa and Zipho Mbatha of Amarobha have just signed a deal with Next Publishing that will put them on the global market.
Though they are not famous in Mzansi, their music is sold worldwide.
Next Publishing puts local music on the worldwide web to give it exposure.
Patrick Sota, manager of the group, says: "We are so happy that people all over the world can buy our music through the e-music website."
Mlotshwa says: "We are very excited about this. As a small group we take it as an achievement to be available on the international market. This will help to sell our music all over the world and grow our sales.
"We also hope to get an opportunity to go overseas to promote our music."
Both of the group's albums are available on the e-music website and songs can be bought per bundle.
Sometimes better known as the bad boys of the music industry, the kwaito guys have soft hearts.
Amarobha has adopted the Emndeni Children's Home as their social responsibility.
Sota was quick to point out that this is not just a publicity stunt.
He says: "We plan to donate two percent of the group's sales every week to the home.
"We feel we have to give something back to society and help those who are in need.
"We committed ourselves to this responsibility long before the guys' careers even started."
