Now law gurus defame JZ

It is perplexing that Arthur Chaskalson and George Bizos issued an unprecedented statement now that a certain section of the population is crying foul over the manipulation of the national prosecuting authority and how the independence of the judiciary will be compromised.

It is perplexing that Arthur Chaskalson and George Bizos issued an unprecedented statement now that a certain section of the population is crying foul over the manipulation of the national prosecuting authority and how the independence of the judiciary will be compromised.

Warrants of arrest for Jackie Selebi were cancelled and the pronouncements on his case quarantined, but both kept quiet. Jacob Zuma has been investigated and persecuted for seven years and these "custodians of our constitution" kept quiet.

Search and seizures have been declared illegal and infringed on Zuma's rights, and the two gurus kept quiet. Newspapers were approached and Zuma was undermined, defamed and rubbished, and they kept quiet. A case was declared unwinnable though there was said to be prima facie evidence to that effect, before it went to court. Is this justice?

According to our legal interpretation, justice delayed is justice denied. Instead of coming out with good-for-nothing rhetoric about judiciary independence, why is the matter not being addressed?

It is really sickening that whenever Zuma is mentioned, every Patricia, Bantu and Helen takes the high moral ground and makes the most ill-informed comments. The fact is that the judiciary as we know it in South Africa has never been independent. It has been used and manipulated to incarcerate, torture and lock up innocent victims.
